A short review of the CD rom by Sally Hinchliffe:

John Travis's words give an insight into 19th Century Todmorden and provide the modern day reader with a glimpse of Todmorden past.
The books are rich in anecdotes about local characters and dignitaries, buildings and places which both genealogists and social historians will find irresistible. In many cases Travis gives details of families going back generations.
Anyone with even the slightest interest in Todmorden and the surrounding areas should buy this CD - it's invaluable!

And some comments by Linda Briggs:

I received my CD safe and sound as you promised and am delighted with it.
The quality is excellent and the search and find mechanism is superb. I would recommend this CD to anyone interested, not only in Todmorden and Walsden, but in any of the rural emerging cotton towns. For anyone with a passing interest in the area it is a must, and for anyone with whole families in this area it a very big must.
