"The History of the Township of Meltham near Hudderfield" was written by the Rev. Joseph Hughes who died before his book was published. The book deals with the church, the township and the eminent families and people of the township. The following additional information can be found on this web-site:

"The Tragedies of Elland " was written by the Yorkshire historian, John Horsfall Turner and published in 1890. It is a small book (90 pages), and contains no index or contents pages. Please see the Acrobat file below for a general idea as to the contents of the book:

"The History of Huddersfield and district down to 1932" and "Almondbury and its ancient School" were written by Taylor Dyson M.A., the 18th headmaster of Almondbury school. There are no indexes in either of these books, but a good idea of the information in the books can be obtained from the contents pages (see the Acrobat files below). The Almondbury school book contains a list of admissions to the school from 1848 to 1925.
